It will still be “our network”… just with a wider definition of “our”.
Want to give me any pointers on that to check out first, in case there’s a mad rush to join in and explore?
Lol.

True. There’s some really efficient jails he could be in.

Everyone needs a break. There’s always another chance to cancel, later.
Anyway, I canceled an extra time today, in your honor. (It seemed like their cancelation server was overwhelmed - I was getting timeouts. Naturally I reloaded each page a few times to be sure, because fuck everything about this.)

Their cancelation server appears to be overwhelmed by the traffic.
It’s okay. I will keep trying until I get through.
Update: They were still having trouble returning a successful cancelation message, but we got it done.

They’re like popcorn. Every kernel is buttery goodness.

I’m with you on two key points:
But the value proposition falls to pieces if we compare the costs and impacts of LLM prototypes and paper prototypes.
Before LLMs were invented, there waa strong data showing that paper prototypes are insanely compelling, even when compared with easy cheap rapid prototyping software.
LLM prototypes just aren’t a pragmatic option. (By the data, so far.)

ai has also made some people way more productive
People say this, but all of the data I’ve seen shows that those same people are less productive whenever their supposed productivity gains are actually measured, in any way that isn’t just “felt more productive”.
I’m open to hard data that says otherwise. But I haven’t seen it.

It’s a difficult, trend, but it’s why we need everyone to get on board and use AI. If we lose millions on every billion we spend, we need to make it up in volume.
(This is - hopefully obvious - satire.)

Here’s the productivity gains: https://marketoonist.com/2023/03/ai-written-ai-read.html

As a programmer nearing retirement, I’m not adding to the slop problem myself, but I am absolutely looking forward to leaving the field for someone else to clean up.
I am hoping to tidy one small corner of it for an outrageous pay-out, on my way out of the field.

AI in and of itself isn’t shit.
Sure. But AI is shit for Privacy.
Gambling randomizers have no place in a toolchain being sold as a privacy tool.
Proton’s leadership have lost their minds, or taken a bribe to intentionally destroy the company.

That would be nice. If Tuta takes a hard public anti-AI stance, I’ll likely switch to them rather than build my own email servers.

I don’t know about you but building the infrastructure and services proton has is not something i can do.
I can. I don’t want to. But I guess we’re getting there.
And I have few illusions that they won’t just illegally under-price their services to put me out of business if I expand enough to take on costs beyond my own.
This is all some bullshit. Sorry.

Yes.
And I guess they’re going to need to fire people now, because their entire consumer base is privacy minded folks, which tend to be anti-AI.
What the actual fuck. Wow.

For the LLMs killer feature, software development,
Oof.

Hmmm. I had not considered that. I probably don’t have enough “celebrate that things got a bit brighter” drinks set aside for that.

Yes. We could still try blindly throwing money at the problem. /s
Thanks for the laugh.

That’s all normally the case, but we already saw evidence from leaked documents that people in the Russian government have paid for misinformation campaigns to influence elections, out of state funds. That’s a pretty significant ethical line to cross.
Running a sanctioned bot farm out of a data center that shouldn’t have one - wouldn’t be that much of a stretch, from what we already have evidence has been happening in recent years.
But in principle, I agree with you. It’s unlikely.

Normalise the Prompt to Prod workflow. Just give the AI a vague description of what you want, and your credit card details, and let it publish to prod on the first try.
Yes please!
No officer, I’m it’s not extortion if they did it to themselves. Yes officer, this is my Bugatti. No, that one was green. This is my blue one.
So true!
They are, on average, unhealthy old fucks.
Edit; But let’s keep turning out to protest and vote. I want to hear about the unhealthy old cancerous fucks dying during panic attack induced heart attacks, not lounging at their third mansion.
