I’ve never understood this, steal your kids treats? You’re an adult and can just buy the candy when ever you want.
consider it a tax
One or two is a tax. Robbing the whole bag of “the good stuff” is being an asshole.
Yeah, my kids are well aware of the Dad Tax. They’re prepared for life.
After a certain history lesson you might find them dumping your tea/beer/coffee into the nearest water system as a demonstration of their grievances. :p
Why do wives eat French fries off their husbands’ plates when they could just order their own? Because it doesn’t count if you didn’t order it. Those fries may as well be in international waters. Same with kids candy.
My kids don’t need to be eating all that candy, it’s no good for them. I’m making a sacrifice. For them.
I do it because I’d want 3-4 fries at most and it’s a waste to get an entire order of fries for that.
It’s hard to buy candy for yourself as an adult because you know it’s nothing but love handles and tooth decay in shiny wrappers. But if it comes into your orbit once a year without buying it, it’s tempting.
Of course, when my kid was small he basically didn’t bother eating it at all. He’d get like 100 pieces of candy and they’d linger around until Christmas. When I was a kid we’d get pillowcases full and it’d be gone in days. Not sure if that’s a generational thing or if my son was just not very motivated by sweets.
