they are probably voting for him again right now

He’s not up for re-election and not on the ballot. Only a subset of Congress is. A Democratic majority in Congress would not mean we get a new president, nor does it make it possible to impeach and remove the current one. Also, neither snap elections nor no-confidence votes are a thing here.

It seems a lot of non-US people watching from a distance have higher hopes than they should about the significance of this midterm election, due to not really understanding how the US system works and/or thinking it’s a parlimentary system like a normal modern democracy.

Which is why the European / Canadian “OMG dO sOmEtHiNg you pussies!!! No…? Guess you’re all fine with fascism then…!” commenters are especially irritating because there’s really only one way he doesn’t stay in office until Jan 2029, and that’s already been tried unsuccessfully, and just gets you president Vance anyway. Or president Johnson, if you managed a two-for one. A different president before 2029 is not a possible outcome of protesting- any amount of protesting. Those “No Kings” events are just cargo-cult civil disobedience for liberal boomers to virtue signal at. They have no demands to make, no credible threat of escalation if the demands are ignored, and no reason for the regime to take them seriously.

Voting republican in this election is voting for Trump in spirit, it is showing continued support. Everyone knows this is what people mean when they talk about voting for or against Trump in this election. The only exception I would allow is if they’re voting for a really good local republican candidate who isn’t aligned with Trump

I disagree with many other things you said but this part is right on.

Those “No Kings” events are just cargo-cult civil disobedience for liberal boomers to virtue signal at. They have no demands to make, no credible threat of escalation if the demands are ignored, and no reason for the regime to take them seriously.

Only correction is that they’re not boomer events. Come on. Boomers are not leaving the house at this point.

I agree with most of your points except that a large enough display of civil disobedience should instigate change. If people are willing to literally block the streets, strike and shut down the economy in enough major cities, changes will be made. The Short list of demands should be made clear and begin with impeach, arrest, and prosecute pedophile Trump.

The “large enough display of civil disobedience” would just be outright civil war. We already know that Republican voters are happy to accept the razing of “Liberal hellholes” (every major city in the country) based on the messaging around Seattle and Portland in 2020.

Technically speaking if enough seats in Congress flipped to Democrats they could push an impeachment and prosecution through but that still hinges on the Executive and Judicial branches cooperating, and then there’s the military to consider. What we really need is a bunch of agricultural states to change so we can make some Constitutional Amendments but they’ve all been gerrymandered to fuck so that’s not a realistic goal either.

It still amazes me that in America it literally relies on a two party system to determine that someone who is a federal felon should lead the country or not… “he defrauded(and raped) so many people but we didn’t vote enough democrats in to kick him out” is just insanity to me. Like he had so many actual convicted crimes prior to presidency.

The problem is that the side opposing Trump sees the felonies and rape and Epstein stuff. The side supporting him is a religious cult that believes what they’re told to believe. Christian Nationalists are destroying the world.
