  • It should be noted at least one Democrat has said they’re open to confirming Trump Supreme Court appointees, that being U.S. Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado, so far.

and you’ll definitely immediately see a party divided between who thinks they should do some investigation, lots of investigations, or none and just focus on legislation. There is a risk in just sitting all day on cspan doing investigations and getting no where, but legislation as you mentioned is likely to go nowhere other than showing on record who supports or doesn’t a particular policy or change, so there will in fact need to be some balance found if Dems are to hold congress and the senate and take the executive office in 28.

Trump still holds power of foreign policy, and war powers, and he will ramp up those abuses even further to change the narrative and punish the nation for slighting him, as any good narcissist can be expected to do.

  • There’s a lot of us that were banned for dubious or outright false, non existent reasons. It’s a smaller community so there’s not as constant a feed of new stuff, but that is better imo. It also means there’s inside jokes that most people who are constantly on here see. For a while it was beans. Just random pictures and puns about beans. Then deans. Lots of pictures of the dean from community. So if you see some random confusing stuff mentioned, it might be that kind of thing. There’s also some instances that are seemingly trolling, some that seem state sponsored and local to certain nations that have to toe the line of the authoritarian regime opinions. There are a lot of great people here already, so just be patient, explore, and slowly build up your feed by browsing all. Also look at how all is sorted, there’s a few different options there and you’ll figure out which ones you like more. I mostly stay in new, but if I’ve been gone a while I might browse the most popular over the last hour, 5 hours, or day.

  • As he should have, because it was a witch hunt being performed on a, to my knowledge, innocent man, and they were fishing for anything they could use without having any evidence of wrongdoing. He said in his diary he disliked the president and their behavior. That’s not a crime. And yes, on the matters he received a blanket pardon from actions performed “January 1, 2014, through January 19, 2025, arising from Fauci’s service as NIAID Director, Chief Medical Advisor, or member of the White House coronavirus task forces”. If he refused to testify on specifics they can use their congressional powers to compel through their constitutional powers via imprisonment, fines, or both. (Brown v. Walker)

Burdick v. United States Allows fauci to refuse his pardon or pardons and then employ his fifth amendment right. Also if someone being compelled has performed crimes or suspects they have or will be charged for state crimes they may invoke their fifth to protect themselves against that while also accepting a pardon, but they are still protected against federal charges.

If congress had actually been interested in some truth or testimony from fauci to get to the bottom of some events, they could have used under 18 U.S.C. § 6005 via a U.S. District Court order a grant of immunity that would have allowed him to testify while protecting against malicious or resulting state prosecutions, but they offered no such deal, while also having no claims of evidence of impropriety, showing it was a fishing expedition and an attempt to get viral clips for political gain. Which they got by him invoking his fifth, causing morons across the Internet to then claim that proves guilt.
