Haven’t found a direct account yet, but can you help me understand what this line means?

As for candidates, it may initially seem as though the DPRK follows the Soviet Union’s approach in having a single candidate for each elected position. This is indeed the case for the final process of voting, but there is also a distinct difference: candidates are selected through a robust process in the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland.

The way I’m reading this, is that on a North Korean ballot, there is only one candidate for each role, and that candidate is selected by the DFRF.

Yeah, it’s gonna take me a minute to read Roland Boer’s book. Since you’ve obviously read it, does it contain any sourced accounts on human rights or election freedoms in North Korea? I’m gonna guess the answer is ‘no’, but I’m open to being wrong.

I’m sorry, but I refuse to be so ignorant about a country that I mix up two publicly retracted propaganda stories into one

Oh no, I mixed up one off the cuff point from 13 years ago. Kim didn’t have his uncle killed with an aircraft gun, he had him killed via a firing squad.

I live in a country with (allegedly) free speech. You’re welcome to post overwhelming firsthand accounts of how great NK is, because clearly that media either doesn’t exist, or doesn’t get to most people. Probably a consequence of NK not having free speech and banning almost all foreign media. Hell, why don’t you go visit them and get those accounts yourself? You’ll probably come back with better mental function than a typical tankie.

People’s Republic of China, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and the Republic of Cuba.

Hold up. Are you really going to argue that the People’s “we will put you in a political prison camp you for things your relatives in another country said” Republic of China isn’t authoritarian? Are you saying that fucking North Korea, which is run by the son of the last dictator, who strapped his uncle to an anti-aircraft gun isn’t authoritarian? Really? Reeeeeaaaaaaally?

And that is the kind of “Socialist Democracy” you want to bring here?

Real quick sanity check here, you are familiar with June 4th 1989, right?

I disagree with your analysis of what a tankie is

If I disagreed in what your opinion of a nazi was, would that change who the nazis are?

Tankie is pretty explicitly described in the same manner as the Wikipedia page in just about every reference I could find.

Like I said, you should really distance yourself from the term. It doesn’t paint you, or your goals in a good light. At best, trying to make the label fit the movement has caused you to compromise your methods to garner a little bit of support from a small group reknowned for being toxic little pissants.

Edit : this guy explicitly extols the virtues of North Korea and defends their humans rights record. Fuck those goals, and fuck anyone who thinks that is a good system to emulate.
