It’s probably a pump and dump, those in the know probably sold high, they’ll use it to convince board members to release more stocks or something then double down… Wait until the price bounces back and pull out more loans on an higher valuation.
They’re masters of this type of financial trickery. I doubt the small fish crashing will bother the data center builders who are killing the planet and corrupting culture/society/politics.

Oh, none of these companies make money! They parasite off from governments practicing free market “Liberalism” giving them cash and contracts and they do pump and dump stock trading schemes to get good valuations, big investments and big bank loans then just time the accruing and dispersal of their debts carefully.
At some point the investments and saving accounts just start self-reproducing money because we don’t have an economy that expects organizations to have a trillion dollars… So it’s for practical purposes an infinite money glitch.
They don’t make money they just acquire enough of it that the money starts reproducing.

Punk, diy, mutual aid are great and powerful philosophies of community togetherness… But they just don’t make/choose good music. It’s a real sore point for me, as these events are about bringing people together… And not about blasting them away.
I heard that the public isn’t the target of these “we’re being safe” messages, their developers are. Developers sometimes leave because they think they company isn’t being safe enough… So claiming they’re being safe is a way to retain developers.

They’re not people.
Loads of stories have emerged over the past few months of corporate executives realizing their all-out drive to use AI was getting them absolutely nowhere.
A story based on anecdotal evidence. I don’t think that’s the best journalistic practice.
Right the guy who failed to catchy the problem in the generated code, will be fine.
This is about the extinction of hand coded programming as we know it. You know how very few people know assembly, and every so often a COBOL expert has to be found to update a bank’s database so they can overhaul their systems?
What if all of programming becomes like that only worse. With new generations of programmers not actually knowing how to program. A massive decline in numbers and competence… Programmers that only “program” by talking to LLMs.
Ever seen an episode of Star Trek where a computer is in charge of everything, and society crumbles when it breaks down?
I think we might hit a plateau in a generation or two. The point at which we can generate more and more LLMs but don’t know how to make them any better. Let alone reprogram unrelated systems like medical scanners, or air traffic safety systems, or mapping systems.
“It’s okay we’ll have the LLMs improve the LLMs”… For the rest of eternity.
Tell me then, was the problem solved, the work done by the LLM?
Was it considered good enough for a mainbranch?
Or was it faulty/risky and require highly trained experts to catch? Then flagged, and only put into an experimental branch?
How many ex-Oracle memory experts do you think are available for this work, in which even Linus didn’t catch the race condition?

Was cancer actually cured? The article doesn’t say the problem was fixed by the LLM. It says humans did the work of finalizing parts of it which had to be restricted to an experimental branch, and only operates on 64-bit machines.
Someone promoted something of the task. Someone had the safeties off. Someone gave an instruction that was interpreted as requesting this.
