When I was in high school it seemed that Ferris Bueller was always on Comedy Central when I was home sick.
My favorite I’m-8-and-home-sick memory involved me watching the recently unleashed Cartoon Network (this was back in 1992/93). This was when the channel was just hours of Hannah-Barbera shows. So an episode of Top Cat comes on. After it’s over, it plays again. Then again. And again. For several hours Cartoon Network was just one single episode of Top Cat on repeat. I kept it on just to see how many times it would repeat. At one point a little chyron appears along the bottom of the screen saying that there’s been some kind of technical issue and they’re working on it. Even at 8 I’m thinking that this has to be some kind of prank. I still believe this! I mean, these were the guys who would create Space Ghost: Coast to Coast in a few years. Feels very in-character for the future creators of Adult Swim to stick a random episode of Top Cat on repeat during the middle of some random weekday, thinking no one would notice. But I did. And I still think about it.

My daughter loves them. There’s a pink one that we sometimes see and she goes nuts over it (and, mind, we never did the whole “pink is for girls” thing–she just LOVES pink). So I can’t outright call them ugly because I love my kid.
I’m convinced that it looks better in every color but standard. Also the front isn’t too bad. Neither is the profile. But all angles of the rear of the truck are big, boxy, just not good looking (in my opinion). But I’m willing to say that I appreciate someone being willing to produce a vehicle that maintains the concept look and actually tries to look different. There’s a lot wrong with the CyberTruck; the exterior design is probably about the least of it.
