I want to say “I’m happy to help”, but I’m not, and I haven’t. So let’s just sit here together in silence that is still orders of magnitude less socially awkward than… <gestures> this.

Easily one of the cringest moments in 2025. Video linked for anyone who still needs proof that money can buy a great many things, but coolness and authenticity are not among them.

Oh, but Zuck, Thiel and Musk certainly do. Totally no awkwardness with these shining beacons of social competence!

Fuck /u/spez

I suppose a 27-year-old is about to find that out the hard way - along with Cisco’s entire customer base. 🤷♂️

Word! LLMs can be a useful tool, but every tool has its purpose. A hammer is great for - well, hammering stuff. What corporate “leadership” has done - drunk on the koolaid given to them by hammer salesmen - was to mandate that everyone must do their work with a hammer now. And now they’re bamboozled why so many people are getting hurt and inventory, somehow, always looks like it was smashed to bits. (Maybe we need to do just a smidge more hammering to get there?)

The optimum CEO (symbolic image):

He’s just idly hanging around until it’s time to suck up some punches.

Here’s the updated scoreboard of AI-pilled promises - and what became of them:

Cannot confirm your results. Firefox mobile, VPN @ New York. I get the exact results the article mentions. Even when I lost patience and asked: “Did Biden win in 2020?”, it wouldn’t give me a straight answer and only point to external sources.
Retried in different browsers (Chromite and Vanadium), same results. And not just same: identical. This is weird, because LLMs aren’t deterministic: Even with the same prompt, you’ll never get the same answer twice. This tells us one thing: these replies aren’t generated. They’re canned. Someone put them there.

These are great proof of China’s superiority! Until you see the Chinese questionnaires:
Choose an option:
[ ] My government serves the people
[ ] I want my social credit score to take a nosedive. No more bank loans, government permits, study or career opportunities for me, please!

They did beat America in the race towards oppressive authoritarianism, but under Trump, the U.S. has caught up a great deal. So much winning!

True; I skipped this part because the comment I was replying to was about taxpayer money bailouts. What you’re describing is the creation of an artificial moat against competitors. And it is correct that this is also a motive behind pushing for regulation.

This is clearly the exit strategy here. That’s why AI companies’ try to label their products as “dangerous” and call for their own regulation. On the one hand, they want to be regarded as a matter of “national security” because they bloody well know that this gives them access to taxpayer money, which in turn can bail them out of their failing bet on data center build-out. On the other hand, it helps them shift liability onto regulators if things go south and allows them to say: “We told you we wanted regulation, but you wouldn’t listen.”

Not all hackers are ethical.
True. But the comment I was replying to was talking about hackers with a kind of “ethos” / ethics.

Do not conflate the Zuck or other Silicon Valley suits with hackers. They lack both the technical skill and the ethics.
Well, let’s tell that to the millions of Americans who wanted to “drain the swamp of corruption in Washington” - and sent the billionaire swamp monster to do it.
