Also, it’s not pay-to-win just because everything requires ingame currency. If it’s possible to buy things with OUTSIDE currency, THAT would be pay-to-win.

I was going to say roguelikes aren’t a gacha because you usually don’t gamble with real money in them, but buying rougelikes can be a gatcha if you don’t know if you’ll buy a good game.

I’d say the network effect is a big part. A lot of the established communities are there, so people stay there.

I do my best to stay off there, though. One thing that helped me drastically cut down on Reddit interactions is donating an Euro to PieFed for every comment I make on Reddit. (besides, either it works, or I help keep the fediverse running and improving. It’s a win-win :P)
