I was looking into it, thankfully this new tax was shut down in a vote. The French assembly originally rushed it through in an 11 to 10 vote on the 30th of last month. The parliament then shut it down with a 458 to 0 lol.

I’m here for some surfdom any day

GTA VI will cost €79.99 in France. After VAT, Valve gets €20. One download, at 210GB would cost Steam €11.55 in this tax. If you uninstall and reinstall once, Steam loses money on the sale.
Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t see any way whatsoever that Steam won’t be passing this cost off directly onto users or just outright block French IPs. How incredibly stupid.

I’m not going to lie, as a software developer with decades of experience under their belt…I lowkey trust frontier AI models’ design choices more than your typical developer at this point…

“What are you in for?”
“Felony bubble gum theft…”
Lol fair enough

I thought the same as I typed my comment…

they will even make me take out all the empty ones in my larger bag to prove I’m not stealing.
God, I would laugh so hard as I kept walking to my car.

That you know of. Some places wait until you hit felony level totals, then inform the police.

I just still cannot believe that happened and just…no one cares.

It’s smaller, it’s slower, but it’s pretty cozy.

I firmly believe OpenAI, Anthropic, etc., will all eventually collapse under their own weight, meanwhile open weight distillations of their models will become the de facto standard for AI usage. There’s just no way they can ever make up all the money they’ve burned in R&D, especially when distillations are right behind them.

I wonder how many unique searches they do per day.
If you search something that someone else already searched recently, the AI response will pop up almost immediately due to caching. I can’t imagine that brings several billion down to a more manageable number though.
Man, I thought it said she lost her house. That’s fine too, ig.
