When I used to work at DCs, the only people that were full time employees were security and maintenance. The rest of us were contractors that would service all of the DCs in a region. Even the guys that ran the hardware would drive around to all of the DCs owned by that operator.

The building I used to work in had more than 40 maintenance, security, and IT people. But 5000 other people worked there and it was the size of the smallest DC. They create very little jobs.

The only person that would ever call would be your criminal defense attorney that you already have on retainer. Very few people would stick around and have LE surprise them.

I was comparing API costs at home, the plans give you a lot of value. When I had to use GitHub Copilot the API cost was closer to my home cost, but whatever Enterprise plan we have through Anthropic is crazy.

It’s subsidized. I will eat my hat if the number is less than 50%. It is even crazier at work. My personal account cost 3 times as much for the same prompt on my work account. Inference cost is the same for all users, you can’t mega-ultra scale something that is at maximum scale labeled as a hyper scale.

I just assumed it was all the VPSs and it only would be 1 day before they fixed the routing. Those DC were only being used as infrastructure for routing traffic out of Russia.
