i mean, that is still a metaphor.

i mean, that is still a metaphor.

yes i know that, genius. the point is that is not an argument people are using for nuclear. it’s a blatant straw man from someone clearly not engaging in a goood faith discussion.

another big selling point of nuclear is it’s easy to drop in at old coal plants that already have grid connections ready to go.
pretending today’s limitations are permanent is a strange way to plan tomorrow’s energy system.
how long are you willing to wait for perfect energy storage?
obviously battery tech will improve, but the point is we cannot afford to assume that problem will be solved 100%, meanwhile experiencing more and more irreversible damage to our environment. We need to put our eggs into all clean energy baskets to get off CO2 as soon as possible. Not whenever battery tech happens to be ready to handle everything.

nobody gets bonus points for glowing in the dark.
where the fuck did anybody say that?

The real bottleneck now is grids and storage.
And turns out nuclear has a few competitive advantages over solar. They are both great and serve different purposes.

“Hey you got anything good in there?”

I hate jumping around between apps to figure out what i want to watch.
media consolidation is a shitshow and I refuse to give any more money to the industry, especially regressive propaganda machine Fox Corp.

that’s not true, i use bluetooth headphones regularly to watch videos.

where else am i supposed to humblebrag to everyone i know?

well yeah they are able to sell SUVs an higher margins because they have conviced us that’s what we want. If we wanted smaller efficient cars they could sell those at higher margins instead. supply and demand, except they are artificially creating the demand.

enemy of a fascist, count me in.

i think it’s more like the US populace is deeply brainwashed by Truck and SUV marketing. If we (collectively) wanted efficient vehicles and purchased based on that, that’s what they’d make. But they make sure that’s NOT what we want.

EVs still use brake pads. lol
not really. almost all EV breaking is regen, unless you drive like shit.

300 billion in savings now (citation needed), trillions in destruction later. great investment!
can’t read the article but does the author suggest an alternative? bit silly to complain without that.
