- You don’t have to be on a list for ICE to predate. Most of the children weren’t on lists. Most of the dead parents weren’t, either.
- I don’t understand what your trust remarks have to do with predators, but the important thing is don’t trust LEO’s

That’s why he already said he’s teaching his kids about avoiding the cops. ICE and other LEO’s abduct people all the time, quite often extrajudiciously.
Non cop kidnappers arguably might do it less but are inarguably less successful at it than LEO’s.

I get the impression this means per specific build of the game submitted to steam, not just the game.

Fun fact, early scripts for the original film had Humanity plugged in to share computational processing Power for the Machines, but the studios didn’t believe audiences could grasp that so it was changed to providing electricity.
Which is impossible, the whole feeding cycle for harvesting us as batteries would yield less power than just using the feed source for power.

Killing the entire species is absolutely less of a concern for investors than copyright violations.

Please. You’re giving me a headache. /s

Thank you! I’m quite proud of holding to my convictions, to the degree that I divested from every ETF in my retirement portfolio which was obligated to load up on the spacegrift stock, and to minimize my exposure in my taxable holdings wherever I could afford to.
I want to make sure that I don’t grow my wealth in a sleazy way.

Oh, you perhaps misunderstand me, friend. I’m saying their revenues are a momentary mirage, the liabilities aren’t.
They need income that substantiates the growth game and justifies the outlandish, impossible tidal wave of debt they are raising. Their competitors nipping at their heels and stealing all of their progress, and making it run on commodity hardware to boot, only narrows that field of play for justifying their market growth.
If you’re Tesla and unmasking your customer base revealed it was all just BYD all the way down (or, say, something TRULY absurd like everyone found out all of the cybertrucks were bought by SpaceX) then it would cast serious doubt about their viability with the next generation of customers targeted for that product.

Check out what portion of Anthropic revenues turned out to be processing distillation for others, namely Chinese market players.
A huge portion of their revenue basically came from their competitors using their horsepower against them to build the next, better mouse trap

Spacex really changed the game, forcing the markets to load up that ish in our 401(k)'s.
Next, when Musk threatens to “gift” every child spacex stock in their Trump accounts, it’s another form of using the general public as an exit , well artificially propping up the moonshot companies stock values.
It is a Master Class in forcing volatility into the financial lives of not just retail investors but Main Street people.

Sure, and maybe even some kind of suvversion system could lock one user out while the other is doing work, to avoid the kinds of conflicts that we’re talking about here.
All of that is a hard sell versus the experience of dropping into a document and seeing three cursors all entering data collaboratively, a la Google Sheets.
And I’m writing this to someone that’s trying to make myself at home using Grid raft, the vibecoded AI Slop Excel. If I had to share documents mid-production with anyone else at all, I would need something cloud-based.

I truly try very hard not to talk to these machines based on what they are, but based on who and what I am.
Having trouble finding the ancient article, but I remember a woman writing about how men verbally abusing Alexa or Siri being a red flag, and I took it to heart.
It’s my job to express my humanity and my love, consistently, even if I think these soulless words salad calaculators are diminishing me and all of us.
Now, if I’m berating the thing it’s because I am a salty, salty b**** and I mean it.

Oh buddy, these companies are running out of authentically human inputs, you better believe they need to harvest their subscribers for rounding out their datasets, regardless of what their privacy policy alleges.

It looks like bad training data, as they harvest all of their subscribers.
It looks like 2013 Microsoft having to unplug their early AI project from Twitter within 16 hours as the general public very deliberately turned it into a Neo-Nazi.
It looks like conserving tokens to conserve energy costs not expended on dissidents.

Okay, I can say with 100% certainty that many of the data points they publish on me are details I packed into Amazon product reviews, as I participate in Amazon Vine.
I recognize the Expressions I used, and know the anecdotes I pulled from. I’m not saying it’s the only source, but they have over 500 entries in the stack here that I’m looking at, as I’m deleting them one at a time I’m remembering what reviews they’re associated with.
Samsung owner, checking in, so I absolutely get the appeal of having one device that serves as a traveling workstation and mobile comms platform.
I do miss headphone jacks, but I’ve got a grip of 99 cent USB to stereo adapters if I really care about it, and I’ve got almost exclusively Bluetooth headsets anyways.
Thunderbolt is glorious, but you also can accomplish all the things you mentioned with USB 3.x and I’ve accomplished most of them with Samsung Dex and a USB Dock.
Thunderbolt was developed in Partnership between Intel and Apple, and Intel largely holds the keys for it, and opened the spec for TB 3/4 to be available rolled into USB 4 devices and beyond, many years ago, so Thunderbolt licensing is rarely needed.
I have literally one dock and one Apple computer which even support Thunderbolt 5, and I can’t really do anything that needs to saturate its bandwidth in production. Generally speaking, 40gbps is enough today for anything I would need to do on my phone docked as a workstation except for larger LLM’s, or maybe video production or CAD design, which are likely want the full fat horsepower of any of the computers available to me instead.
But I really freaking want though out of my phone, is for it to not be locked down to one of two spyware ecosystems, and for it to be small enough that I can comfortably use it with one hand. I have bought the smallest Samsung Galaxy S phone available to me every year since around 2015 and I’m quietly resentful about it that I’m forced to carry around a phablet. Every time I picked up my old iPhone 4S from a drawer and dusted It Off I would charge it up and turn it on and be dismayed at the state of the software and SOC, but it’s form factor and elegance is what I want, just in something more open.
One key point you need to understand regardless of where all of the jumble of Technology goes next, affordability is out the window, and it’s not the upstart phone vendors fault that they can’t command millions and millions of orders to get manufacturing discounts. Any phone that is better for you and me to carry is going to cost a pretty premium and we’re basically funding the R&D with the first Generations we buy. That is pretty much unavoidable in this era.
So we slavishly keep buying pixels and galaxies and iPhones.
