  • Discomfort can be so great for you! Or maybe it’s too much comfort leading to greater downsides - not sure.

A while ago, I was stuck in a situation where I had to use a backless chair for a week or so. I found myself switching positions and stretching and taking breaks more often, and how it actually led to less fatigue at the end of the day, both mental and physical. Then I tried expanding it to another experiment I had tried years back: floor-sitting, but not with my back towards a wall or a heavy piece of furtniture, with something in-between for comfort - I just set up my laptop where it was most convenient and relied on my back and legs to do the support, still taking breaks and stretching. In no time, I noticed a lot more flexibility in my legs and spine, and the morning back pain was just gone, like it was never there! Of course, initially there was discomfort, and there still is if I don’t listen my body, but overall, I feel so much healthier and lighter and more capable than my peers - especially those going to the gym and buying ergonomic PC/gaming/office chairs and such.

So I’m probably very biased towards that headline.

  • “The data we share is navigational data used to make sidewalks safer for all users,” the Coco spokesperson continued. “For example, we provide real-time sidewalk hazard information to BlindSquare, a navigation app built for people who are blind or have low vision. …"

It’s always for someone’s safety, for fuck’s sake, even if doesn’t make any sense. Always some vile argument that, when refuted, makes you the inconsiderate person who doesn’t think of others’ safety.

Very surprised to read about blind people being the excuse this time, not children.
