At least they were honest about their reasoning so you could just ignore it, right?

Literallyy

Yeah, the biggest vibers I know never really got into programming. Which is fine. I support people’s right to be lazy. But the stuff the send me now… Like they’re excited because I guess they’re finally producing (or directing at least) output but their lack of understanding of what they’ve built irks me. Like I’ll ask about design decisions and they’ll say “it does what? Oh that was Clive” like brrrroo you’re killing me here. Have some pride.
Although I do also know some actual programmers who are now (forced to) use it, and none of them are happy. It just seems like a fundamentally alienating way to do creative work.

You know what they meant

Are we talking like product managers? Because I’ve worked at a company where the CEO or CTO can just saunter over and talk to you, and I prefer having someone in between us to deflect pointless toil.

Imho I think I’m seeing that control might matter more than costs or even profits. Like trials for decades have shown that things like 4 day work weeks and UBI actually increase every metric companies are said to care about.

I’m still mad because the source is still tainted. You can guarantee that the contributions of unwilling people, { who 1) did not intend their work to be used by a for profit LLM, and 2) actively do not want their work used by an LLM at all }, is part of these changes.
Scraping isn’t reading, etc etc. But also when did we just stop respecting people’s wishes with the stuff they post? Like I made my own word scramble js script because a website owner didn’t get back to me on whether I could use theirs, even though the script is right there to copy paste.
These companies just did the yolo founder-disrupter impatient thing when they could have been chill and done this all legit.

Yeah they basically disappear behind their new tool, as the only contribution you now see is the one coming from the plagiarism machine.

I don’t use LLMs (especially now during nosloptober), but I’m also trying to apply this to web searching. Like instead of doing a search for “how many minutes in a month” I’ll realise I have all the tools and information to figure it out and just do that.
Or checking with a local manual before searching online
It… Is?
