>Reddit is becoming an alog experience

I really can’t wait for tech communities to rid themselves of political tourist so the discussion can go back on how best to use AI instead of the high pitch screeching that fills the space.
I get that some people don’t like AI, but they should really just get back to putting the fries in the bag and stop slop posting.

>A European court thinks it has power over a US company
I love the little show that European countries put on for their gullible population. They think they’re important 🤣 🤣 🤣

It was just the space that MacOS takes up and how Asahi partitions. I got used to doing the partitioning myself when I switched to Void and now having it done automaticlly annoys me.
I really don’t like Fedora or the package manager too much. It would be great if Nvidia, AMD, or Intel can make their own version of Apples silicon.
My old MacBook M2 was awesome and handled PS2 emulation, Oblivion with mods, and other older games great.

You can use Asahi Linux on Apple Silicon, but you can’t replace Mac OS. I used it for a few years and just stopped because of the partitioning and update issues. I bought a T14 gen 3 and put Void on it. Works a lot better and I could finally upgradey SSD to a 2 TB one.

The T14 gen 6 is pretty upgradable and you can replace windows with Linux.

Self host and verbally assault your AI today, you’ll be glad you did.

>“How influential the latest appeals court ruling will be is debatable. The court found that Ross had effectively copy-pasted Thomson Reuters’ “headnotes,” or brief editorial summaries of legal issues, verbatim for its legal search engine, a practice that isn’t difficult to separate from fair use.”
>“In fact, as Copyright Lately‘s Aaron Moss points out, even the AI industry called the latest ruling a win, with tech industry group Chamber of Progress senior director of AI Adam Eisgrau tweeting that the ruling “implicitly confirms that highly transformative gen AI training to produce a hugely multi-purpose model with substantial public benefit is likely fair use!””
Looks like the company that got sued just copy pastaed protected content without making any type of change to make it fair use.
Not the “win” anti-AI people were looking for and the article seems to be misunderstood by most.
Seems as long as AI models use some form “transformative” method to train their AI, then it’s fair use.

Depends on what you need. You can get away with hosting QWEN 27B on a laptop with about 64 GB or RAM and a dedicated GPU. You’ll be using mostly system RAM, not VRAM, so generation would be slow, but not unbearable.
Good for creating short stories and other creative work when paired with a front end that can handle character profiles, world building, and has memory recall.
It’s better to build your own server and set it up so you, and only you, can remotely access it.

Self host if you’re gonna use AI, in fact, self host whenever possible. There are numerous examples of companies using centralized data to sell, report to police, or even having it fall into the hands of hackers.
I really think people think that all data input to a website is actually stored locally, nope, don’t be dumb.
It’s amazing that people store their life savings in other people’s wallets, lol
