  • Again. The exact same thing Steam did.

But steam got in on the ground floor, by the time the others got into the game it was too late because steam offered enough QOL stuff to blow them out of the water. There was no competition. No one wants to install 15 fucking launchers just because every company wants to take on steam. If anyone wants to get in now with a launcher and compete with steam they have to fill a niche that steam isn’t. Like GOGs DRM free games. Or just sell from their own site without the launcher BS. Sure they won’t get the massive advertising bonus or other QOL benefits that comes with being on steams storefront but it’s an option if they’re so worried that they won’t get their money’s worth being on there.

Unlike Steam’s actual exclusive deals they stuck with publishers to force Steam as DRM. Also preventing it being sold on other online distribution services (because there was a lot back in the day, even IGN had one).

You can buy steam keys for games elsewhere. I’ve gotten tons of games off Humble bundles for example.

  • We had an assembly where we got a kit that had like a toothbrush and travel toothpaste and floss in it that came with a couple of these. I think the idea was to make sure all the kids got at least some exposure to proper dental hygiene in case their parents weren’t doing it. You weren’t supposed to eat the tablet at school so everyone could see you didn’t brush though, I’m sure plenty of kids did anyway.

  • I personally couldn’t give less of a fuck if my phone was waterproof. That’s literally never been a problem for me. The only time it would have been I had it in a dry box so it was fine. I use my aux jack every day. Thankfully Motorola still had an option when I replaced my last phone. Although I did have to give up having a removable battery and the IR blaster(which actually would have been handy a couple weeks ago).

  • I mean, yeah, but things should be better for desk workers too. We’re all being taken advantage of in different ways. I was WAAAAAAAAY happier working in auto shops and occasionally getting injured than I ever have been working in IT. If I could make ends meet doing that I’d go back in a heartbeat. It’s fucked that anyone doing skilled or dangerous work should struggle to own a home and live comfortably.
