It’s really frustrating how many people don’t understand the systems are equally arbitrary. A barleycorn is just as arbitrary as one 10 millionth of the distance between the equator and north pole (or recalculating that based on the speed of light)

that’s the thing with customary units, you generally don’t change them. If something gets unruly in a unit, you just make a new one and any conversion factor is just trivia at that point.
Astronomy did it several times with AU, light-years, and parsecs. It doesn’t really matter how many meters any of those are.

There’s almost never a need to involve units outside of science which typically is metric anyway. Also most of these units aren’t really ever converted between, no one gives a measurement as 1 mile 300 yards 2 feet 6 inches.
There’s a lot of good Bond ones.

They need 11-13 Republican senators to agree with them. That can be done for non-trump officials. It’s also worth it to have that public trial even if it fails so long as it’s not a straight party line vote.

Tim Sweeney would rather die than see another company get a single cent of income from fortnite.

Ohio was definitely a mistake.

Radio didn’t survive TV. It didn’t totally die yet, but it’s been trending towards death. Lots of radio shows couldn’t transition to TV and died out. Lots of stations simply stopped existing, or relied more heavily on syndication. It wasn’t all TV related, as systems advanced, you didn’t need a DJ selecting and playing individual songs. Companies were also allowed to own more stations from the 80s to 96 when all caps were removed, which led.to massive consolidation.
Podcasting has led to a resurgence of the talk show format, but less so radio.
Radio still exists, but it’s mostly due to the last vestiges of public good legislation.

There’s no right time to have a child, and generally younger is better (within reason). I don’t blame someone for having a kid at a bad time. I do blame someone continuing to have kids despite already struggling with the kids they have.

2008 had a very wide blast radius. If it was just a handful or even most banks that were in trouble it probably wouldn’t have been a bailout. Mortgage securities were everywhere and no one knew how much they were actually worth. Most the fortune 500 facing a double digit percentage loss was looking likely, which would have been catastrophic.
Compared to today it might be more money, but it’s isolated to the tech sector. Even then a lot of the worst of it is not on publicly traded companies .
It may look like gambling, but it’s actually fraud.

Musk also desperately needs that starlink revenue to continue until he can merge Tesla and SpaceX to cover for dropping Tesla sales.

I don’t think it was intentional on NASA, Boeing couldn’t really deliver with starliner and SLS isn’t as good as they hoped either.

Customers don’t even need to be the priority anymore. A business that isn’t actively hostile to their customers is probably enough at this point.

We are overdue for a digital bill of rights written by people that understand computers and the Internet aren’t magic.

If you only fuck one sheep…

I literally explained the scenario where that is possible.

All I’ve seen from him is watching a video and offering nothing but the occasional laugh, then rushing to stop it before any self promotion from the creator can play.

That doesn’t actually sound a ton different than literally any attack ad airing for any candidate at the moment.
If hope both parties lose this one, with a long trial for a one dollar verdict.
House speaker doesn’t have to be an elected member. Democrats could go scorched earth and select Obama.
