Their ad revenue plummeted, because the AI summary costs money each search and also leads to fewer clicks (because people often take the AI answer), meaning Google ads, the core of their business, are not being seen on web sites

Also, they continue to invest crazy amounts in AI data centers (despite being significantly behind in LLM quality)

But that’s really just a piece of the puzzle, the simple answer is they are not only going all in on AI, they’re also destroying the one massive profit center that keeps all their other projects afloat

I don’t get what you expect us to do. We’re protesting constantly, we’re organizing politically (very successfully it seems like, we’ll find out in a few weeks), we’re destroying flock cameras and physically driving out ICE from our communities. Hell, there’s even been a steady stream of assassination attempts.

We’re the furthest along, but this infection is global. Billionaires have taken control of our government and media, and we’re trying to regain control. It’s not an easy process.

There’s not enough money to bail out this bubble, it’s exponentially bigger. No one is going to buy $40 trillion of US bonds anytime soon, either we print money, and the rich lose through massive inflation, or we let nature take it’s course and the rich end up holding part of the bag

And a lot of money is going to be lost, including rich people’s money. And that’s something that leads to consequences

It’s an unstable state. Meta can survive the AI bubble collapsing, they’ll even be in a good position afterwards since most of their rivals have put their necks out for AI

And when the bubble collapses, there’s going to be a bunch of regulation pushed to soothe the public anger and no more mountains of money to block it

Because eventually there’s going to be a reckoning, and they want to cover their ass

It does for now, but the methods for modifying an LLM are getting increasingly sophisticated. From blending models to doing brain surgery on them to fine tune the weights, there’s a lot of new techniques being developed all the time

There’s also recently been a breakthrough that cut the ram requirement to 1/6, eventually someone is going to figure out how to train models orderes of magnitude more efficiently

Especially once the AI bubble pops and no one is willing to dump billions into constant iterations

I’m not putting on one designed by a tech giant, but if I didn’t understand the need for privacy I can see the appeal

Instead of fighting against AI nudes, I think we should just culturally decide all nudes are AI. Women shouldn’t be publicly embarrassed or blackmailed by nude pictures, instead the reaction should be directed at the person sharing them. They’re the ones doing something wrong, regardless of if the pictures are real or not

That’s what I’ve been saying… There’s no 5d chess going on here. They left an aircraft carrier out for almost a year because they fucking forgot about it

The only plan in place is “how do I profit off destroying the government”. And they’re short sighted even on that simple plan
