A few weeks back I watched The Thing from Another World, The Thing 1982, and The Thing 2011 and while the 2011 was a nice modernization it broke cannon for a number of key elements that made it a prequel for the 1982 version and that frustrated me. Early on in the 2011 version their only helicopter crashes, the movie ends with the only one non English survivor. The 1982 version starts with two non English speaking men chasing down a dog in a helicopter. The 2011 version got the placement of the melted ice block, destroyed roof, and even the fused face right but completely dropped the ball on the handoff.

Thank you for adding to the chain for me. I knew about The Thing from Another World and on from your list, didn’t know a version of the story came before it.
