Brown makes successful return to US Senate after voters reject Republican incumbent Jon Husted
Democrat Sherrod Brown will return to the US Senate, as Ohio’s voters rejected the incumbent Jon Husted in a significant defeat for Republicans.
Brown’s bid for a comeback after being ousted from the seat he held for 18 years in 2024 became one of the marquee contests of this year’s midterm elections, and a key test of whether Democrats can regain support among the working class and rural voters who have deserted them in recent years.

The thing is, they are mostly correct. A corrupt Trump government was not a problem most voters care about, but when he skyrocketed gas prices he guaranteed that Republican voters would stay home in droves. It was a massive own-goal after getting elected on lowering prices.
Edit: And then he went on TV and bragged how much money he was making on the high gas prices, like even conservatives aren’t that stupid.
I thought i read somewhere that corruption was the second biggest issue for voters, after economy.
An excellent point which brings up the other issue with exit polling is that it only tells us what people who vote think and not people who didn’t vote. Democrats turned out in similar numbers to 2024 (which is huge for a midterm), but Republicans just didn’t show up. Why did they not turn out? Personally, I think it was the gas prices and grocery prices (and the Iran War for causing the former). But that data won’t show up in the exit polls.
Don’t give them too much credit. I have former coworkers who are ODing on copium about how the economy is the strongest it’s ever been, and the Dems have no agenda except going after the orange pedo and his crotch fruit.
It fucking should’ve been, because acting contrary to the will of constituents is the obvious and inevitable result of such corruption. Are people really too stupid to understand that?
Yes. Not all Americans, but a lot of them can only see what is affecting them in the most direct way, they literally lack the ability to conclude that a politician is picking their pocket when they engage in brazen corruption and self-dealing the way that the Trump family has the last two years. It is an indictment of our education system. I’ve known college graduates who literally cannot define the word ‘hypocrisy’ - this is not hyperbole, I have in my conversations with conservatives asked someone to define the word (that they were misusing) and got deer in headlights as a response. It’s that bad. Americans are stupid, really really stupid. Not all of us, but many.
“Gas price bad!” is a message that all Americans understand “Trump is taking bribes and stealing tax money” gets “Well, it doesn’t affect me” as a response. Stupid. So fucking stupid.
