Was talking to my son, after the announcement of Sony wanting to buy our unused PS5. Money is we won’t see a PS6 because AI is getting all the ram that even Sony can’t make a PS6 because of AI. Got to love it. I hope all these companies go bankrupt and we get ram for pennies afterwards.

“…if you believe—which I do, deeply—that computing in many ways equates to intelligence. So the more compute you have, the more intelligent you are…”

Why did nobody in the room interrupt at this point and challenge the validity of the assertion. Sick of these people getting away with spouting nonsense

Glad the article goes on to disagree but i want to see these challenges happening in real time.

And over the horizon, I see AI and super intelligence becoming more and more essential to every aspect of our lives and every aspect of our business.

    AI and super intelligence?

She is hedging her bets using the Trump label “SI” and the Tech Bro brand “AI.”

Technically, these are both technical terms, but we are way, way past the point of their usage being tied to their meaning.

It’s a silly thing to say now, but it’s kinda been true since Zen 1.

Their CPU architectures have all been designed first and foremost for the server and datacenter, with smaller sets of datacenter parts for consumer products. For a little while they split off CDNA and RDNA trying to make more headway in datacenter GPUs. But that’s being re-merged into UDNA where consumer tech will be cut down server GPUs, like NVIDIA does.

      Allocation still matters though.

CPUs are somewhat flexible, as desktops, servers, and a few laptops all use the same compute die.

But with GPUs (for the moment), they have to make long term development/production decisions between server dies and gaming dies. It’s not like older GPUs where server cards literally shared the die with Vega, the GTX 780 TI or whatever, and they could essentially slap a different sticker on to change market allocation.
