Sure there Tim.
Yeah all that open source and open hardware options I have are really holding things back.
Fuck off you tool.
The only thing, between the two (Valve and Epic), that has held gaming back, were those stupid Epic exclusives. Fuck them.
Projecting are we?
I’d rather never play a game again than use the Epic client even once, so I’m not sure you are correct there, Timmy.
Ohh, so it’s NOT all the paid exclusives that held gaming back? Fuck off Tim.
Valve created a great online store front, they have also made sure other storefronts can’t rise through monopolistic practices.
Tim is full of shit.
The client is basically irrelevant in this day and age. Anyone could build one better than Steam and it wouldn’t even be hard.
Lol. So do it Timmy.
From the people that took two years to implement a shopping cart. The same people that are so incompetent they had to resort to vibe coding their Linux client.
Not just the Linux client, but the new Windows one too and in their own words “Coding is hard so we vibe coded” (literally word for word).
AnYONe COUld Do iT

I claim Tim Sweeny is a little bitch. See how easy that is.
Let us point at him and laugh, again!
Sweeny is the Trump of gaming
Talks nothing but shit and has more power than he should while being little more than a bad joke? Yeah, that tracks.
Well, Steam was the reason I had no qualms swapping Windows for Linux. After that I discovered Indie games in the Applications Manager and grew a renewed interest in finding little gems of games, new and old. I can even play games with friends who still use Windows without problems. So for me, Steam enriched gaming. Oh yeah, last week I deleted my Epic Games account with I don’t know how many games I acquired for free over the years, because quality beats quantity. There may have been some good games in there, but I don’t want to drag a scrapyard with me just because somewhere in there may be a nice snack. Also I would have to install an AI-slop app to start it. That’s a nah for me. Goodbye Tim.
My own ease at migrating to Linux as a PC gamer was almost entirely due to the Steam platform but I have had much less success with my GoG collection so I am still holding out for the Linux based platform that they have teased as in-work for a while now.
Epic games’ freebies were something that I would regularly pick up but I honestly haven’t felt any desire to try and access or install any of them since I moved from Win10. Ultimately, I am just hoping that accepting the free games resulted in higher operating costs for Epic and I think I may have purchased one or two heavily discounted games in 5 years. Hopefully I can be forgiven for those past indiscretions.
Steam isn’t perfect but I will support it 100% over that other option since I think Valve has done more to improve the compatility and accessibility to high quality games on Linux than anyone else. Sweeney and other pricks like him can keep whining all they want; not gonna even play the tiniest violin for him.
Which games couldn’t you play from GOG? Heroic does its job very reliably for me. Basically eveything I throw at it runs. Witcher 3 (even the new remastered Version), Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Baldurs Gate 1, Arx Fatalis, System Shock 2, Syndicate, old Ultima classics (like e.g. Underworld) etc. Even modern games from Epic seem to pose no problem. Achievements get synced to the GOG cloud usually. Only thing I am unsure is which games sync their savegames to the cloud. So I back up all the savestates regularly.
Sour grapes at the people rejecting the ai?
Held it up you mean.
You on the other hand HAVE been holding back gaming.
Uh, how so…?
PC is an open platform, and Valve have done more for that platform in the last 10 years than Epic ever will.
This guy is such a clown.
Valve has a good reputation amongst gamers and Epic has a bad reputation amongst gamers. Why is that, Tim?
Every accusation is a confession with guys like him.
