Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit is moving to “a logged-in-only experience,” CEO saysEnglish
2·3 days agoI went a different route. Let them choke on old information. It’s going obsolete anyway, let’s live on somewhere else.
European here. House with ACs and we use 10 to 26 Kwh per day metered. So to me yours seems awfully high except if you tell me you’re 6 people and using the washing machine twice daily and baking something multiple hours.

Technology@lemmy.world•Some iPhone Duo screens are already failingEnglish
5·7 days agoYes that is a good point I noticed all the time when using a foldable. Most uses are just optimized for the standard format. Also phone holders and such.

Technology@lemmy.world•Some iPhone Duo screens are already failingEnglish
2·7 days agoWell, I’ve tried it (fold6) and after 23 months the inner foil started having bubbles, then it grew to a huge bubble along the crease and shortly after the display below the bubble was black.
So while it worked well and was useful, mostly with watching movies, photos or maps I switched back to a standard phone and would never use a foldable display again since my assumptions were proven.

14·18 days agoAlso I’d say sitting inside during jumps and stuff will act out a bit of strong force on the body and aside that not working for everyone minor failures would be very harmful.
So all in all pretty idiotic to begin with and of course let’s not forget that Elon is a literal nazi and still news arrive as if nothing happened.
Epstein files too ofc.

Technology@lemmy.world•Nuclear war and malicious use of AI threaten end of humanity by 2100, says Lancet assessmentEnglish
2·22 days agoI think it depends on the detail definition, then.
Nevertheless I think you’d be severely underestimating the impact, but I still absolutely hope you’re right.

Technology@lemmy.world•Nuclear war and malicious use of AI threaten end of humanity by 2100, says Lancet assessmentEnglish
3·22 days agoDon’t forget the environment. Statistics have been massively wonky for a few years now with massive derailing happening this year (eg https://climatereanalyzer.org/clim/sst_daily/?dm_id=world2). At the rate we’re going it is more likely to be surprising we’ll not have some events with massive death tolls until 2100.
But yeah, AI might cause suffering but won’t be any sci-fi doomsday scenario without some human driving it (point being less an AI issue but more on the political/regulation side. Anything else just beintlg the medium to oppress with power).
Aliens invade earth, force utopia on everyone.
(short version because long it could get very complicated)
