I remember a thread on here a month ago or something where the developers just asked the A.I. to generate some convincing looking work to show. Like layers and stuff as you say. It was truly shameless
They/them preferred, but I won’t be mad if you forget :). Retired programmer. Many health conditions. If I’m uncharacteristically grumpy, I probably have a migraine.

I feel like that would survive 2 milliseconds in court

Hey, quick question: how much would it cost to licence literally your entire library of every IP to use in any way we want forever? How much? Hmmmm… knock six 0’s off that and we’ve got a deal

Why not make something like the 3DS? Like, it flips open and you have 2x screen size. It doesn’t actually have to be one continuous screen, with all the failure points that entails; you’re allowed to have two separate screens that join into one. Every dual monitor home PC setup works this way.
Heck, take it one step further and have a little keyboard that can slide out from the bottom if you’re feeling brave.

See that’s a meaningful response, even if I don’t personally agree with it. Your original reply did that annoying thing where someone hyperfixates on one tiny part of the comment and ignores the actual topic being discussed.
Imagine if I replied to your comment with just “2026? A.I. has been a thing for much longer than that.” Like, yeah; but also that’s not the important part lol
In reply to your actual comment at the end: It’s actually kind of a big problem with LLMs. For them to be useful, they need access to absolutely everything. This has privacy implications, and can even cause catastrophic errors like deleting the database

Exactly. Families are extremely varied in logistics and presentation… Businesses in their ivory towers imagine a stereotypical nuclear family where everybody lives in the same house. Out of 5 families I personally know; only one fits that description.

It means if you received an email saying “thanks for your purchase of a razor” you will get ads for razor blades. They’ll scan all your emails and build an “advertising profile”; similar to that Amazon thing that happened a while ago. If they know enough about you, the ads will be extremely targeted; like an automated spear phishing mounted turret that targets your most private weaknesses. Track your period in an app and they’ll sell you menstrual products on a schedule. Get a food delivery order and now they know what food you like. Email your family about an upcoming vacation and they’ll sell you plane tickets and travel insurance

Probably fine. But I would be suspicious of any usage of the tool that removes too much of your job. Let’s say for example you can send an A.I. to attend meetings in your place, or an A.I. that automatically does performance reviews and check ins with subordinates. That would be a risky thing to do haha
I think that’s still a bit in the future yet, though. Just keep it in the back of your mind if you notice the tool “helping too much”

Refuse to use LLMs; don’t use / train your replacement. Change careers, pivot to something you can’t be replaced by LLMs. Could still be programming in an industry that doesn’t use them for privacy or security reasons.

Oh yeah, everyone loves black text on white background, with each div placed sequentially in a vertical stack :) really gives it that vintage mid 90’s dial up internet “the website failed to load CSS” look
There’s nothing wrong with CSS. Arguably it’s been overcomplicated way beyond it’s original scope, but it works as designed to make your sites look good

Yeah but if it’s just pure HTML you got an ugly-ass website that’s annoying to use. There’s been many JavaScript and css vulnerabilities over the years of course. But yes there was and still is plain HTML issues
Client side:
Server side, you could execute SQL injection and path traversal just via URL before the page even loads. Malware and other issues can be embedded in text inputs. HTML can be uploaded to the server and in some cases replayed on the page affecting other users (comment sections were infamous for this).
So yeah; a plain HTML page with no JavaScript or css isn’t necessarily safe

I don’t remember either 😂. Looks like I replied to the wrong comment or something

Indefinitely just means unspecified. Could be 3000 years, could be 15 minutes; it implies “until further notice” depending on the whims of the noticer. See “suspended indefinitely” in crime drama shows, where they’re back on payroll by the end of the episode

Dunno why you’re downvoting me. It’s a bit confusing

You don’t have to connect the computer and upload your data to change brake pads or air filters

Yep, can’t avoid taking your electric vehicle to get its electricity fluid changed at the mechanics. It’s important to do this periodically so the battery doesn’t get clogged

Does this mean I can install Retroid on my steam deck or something? I’m a bit confused by this article.

I think they were making a related statement rather than directly challenging your argument. Similar if someone says “modern Windows sucks” and the reply is “Linux is where it’s at”

First: Who the fuck is eMudhra?
Second: What catastrophic failure of process allows a single point of failure Indian company to compromise the entire internet as we know it by accidentally releasing debug code? Why is it so fragile in the first place?
