Beware this guy.
He wants to rule the world for serious.
He’s probably moving more money than anybody else. He’s absolutely burning more money than anybody else.
If nobody stops him, then it’s going to be bad times that we cannot imagine yet.

That’s what I do. And touch grass anyway.

Because you were not interested so far in the make and model?

They should disown them and take back all the land. AND make them pay then for all the needed restoration of nature, several years probably.

So what’s the resulting pressure in the liquid, approx?

And after descending on him? Did they do anything? Did everyone at least leave a good brown pile?

Believable. When it comes to banks and IT, is the US any better than other third world countries?

€250,000 for each breach
Holy shit that judge isn’t fucking around.
The relatively high amount is related to the possible damage of the violation: some doctor’s whole work (including several other people working for him, I assume) was at risk by the false accusations made by google.
But the principle behind it is plain normal civil law, and it is available to anyone who’s rights have been violated: the violator gets ordered by court to stop it = never repeat the violation.
The detention thing is also quite normal, but it can happen only if they don’t pay the fine properly.

Has anyone thought that these robots wouldn’t do that?
Has anyone (except EU) a law that forbids that?

Go Germany, hoping every country in EU follows that example.
As far as I understand, it has always been as it is now, and in addition, it is also explicit law (stating the obvious) for several years already (some EU act).

So glad that judges do a little more than just playing fun games.

The court’s reasoning is blunt: Google “provides AI-generated search and is therefore also responsible for the answers generated in this context.”
Yes. Easy. Shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

Easy: mount that cone on a children’s RC toy car.

fahrenheit 451
1984 by George Orwell.
Read the book, and read it to the hurtful ending.
Forget the movie.

We always used to tell the tale of that broken TV set, where your door bell rings right in the next second, and the Am*zon delivery guy already brings a new one.
But now the guy doesn’t even need to ring the bell anymore…

GPS doesn’t handle leap seconds. Currently devices have to subtract ~18 seconds
Very interesting info, thanks!!

They seem to not mind being sued
Oh, I didn’t mean it because of money, but the court could specifically order them to not use such clauses in T&Cs anymore.
(And then, in case of disrespecting court orders, that would hurt them financially so much that they’d think more than twice)

Meta can use web scrapers to crawl and collect content from websites “associated with” business accounts on its platforms, according to its new commercial terms of use.
Not valid here (means, it does not really give them that permission), and they could get sued if they used such t&c here.
Stupid.
That argument “works” only if you have already distanced yourself from all sane and sensible principles, like the ones I have quoted.
Or, in “Star Wars” words: if you belong to the dark side :)
