  • I don’t think there’s much of a chance that Trump will be removed from office. However, there is a possibility that some of his cabinet might. Hegseth comes to mind, in particular. In fact, he might not even last to the end of the current congressional term. There are some pretty damning quotes about him from GOP senators in this piece from The Hill

Kash Patel is another that could be gone. Like Hegseth, he was never qualified for the job and has been an embarrassment to the country. His abuse of public resources for personal ends could be sufficient grounds for removal.

As for Trump himself, the only hope for removal is to get a bunch of Republicans on board. I think the most likely path to that is to make a lot of noise about the Epstein files and Trump’s place in them. If that happens, then there’s an outside chance.

  • The Epstein files are the most likely mechanism at the moment, for sure. And with the Dems in control of Congress, there’s an opportunity to make them much, much for visible to the American people. It sounds like there’s some pretty sickening stuff in there that directly implicates Trump. With enough attention, it is possible that his support within the GOP collapses. Especially given his diminished standing following this elections.

I’m not sure I’d bet on anything happening, but it’s certainly more likely than it was when the GOP controlled Congress.

  • She was one among a string of bad CEOs for Yahoo. I worked there for a couple of years under another of them. In each case, people thought that this was the one who’d turn the company around. When I joined, I was pretty excited because they owned things like Flickr (still my favorite photo sharing site, long since detached from yahoo), del.icio.us (my favorite bookmark sharing site), and a bunch of neat stuff at Yahoo Developer Network (YQL and Pipes come to mind). Those all seemed pretty significant, but the company never really figured out how to turn those things into business success.

The interesting thing here, though, is that IMO Yahoo has been successful in its own way over the past few years, probably since Verizon sold it. It just doesn’t exhibit the “infinite growth forever” characteristics that make it appealing to investors. Its sports and finance sites remain very popular. It seems to have reached a point of stability as a business. But the current private equity owned company bears little resemblance to the original Yahoo and I certainly wouldn’t consider it a “tech company” in any meaningful way.
