We shouldn’t downplay the suffering of any genocide relative to proportionality and much respect to Macklemore for remaining vocal about this, but I just want to bring proportional attention to another atrocity:

Trump, Musk, and all enabling Republicans are responsible for at least 600,000 deaths in just 1 year’s time by the gutting of USAID known to have massive repercussions globally, and dwarfing the civilian death toll in Gaza and Ukraine, combined.

This matters because I still see a lot of people espousing false equivalence both sides bullshit on the eve of the US midterm elections. These deaths simply would not have occurred under a Kamala Harris presidency. Food for thought.

I have been a staunch defender for years. He is the epitome of what people used to wishlist for their hiphop. In the culture. Self starter. Discussing actual issues. Pushing his producer up front. Independent.

His music isn’t very everyone for sure but he has some great radio hits and some really good introspective stuff, the back half of the heist is brilliant and the follow up was very self aware.

On the right side of history

I mean, a lot of hip hop fans have some opinions about positive hip hop and the propensity for white guys to break out in that genre specifically.

Disagree, there have been some incredible radio hits across pop culture. I understand the sentiment but I coukdnt hold it as an irrefutable truth.

He has made some creative choices with content, format, production and festures for the record.

For which he immediately apologised, updated his website to include links to organisations that fight anti semitism and explained himself as best he could while not excusing it. He went on to say he only wanted respect put out into the world and mever meant for the three elements of the costume to do anything other than disguise him for a secret surprise show.

You can still donate through his website if you want tho. I only knew his thrift shop song so didn’t think it would be worth it going.

I took every Ed Sheeran song I had off my Tidal. I hope he realizes he fucked up. Not that my actions will be noticed. But I think people don’t realize the right wing propaganda machine is skewing perceptions right now. There’s a fuck ton of us that aren’t cool with what’s going on.

Don’t mind space cowboy, he’s a progressive in most things except Palestine. Probably a liberal Zionist because he’s pretty negative towards the plight of Palestinians

          Boycott.

But you don’t even want to change which brand of Mac & Cheese you buy, it would inconvenience you too much. The point of your movement is to do performative to gain social media clout, not to do anything that would inconvenience yourselves in any way.

And yes Kraft is big, maybe boycotting them won’t have much of an effect. But bullying someone smaller like a B-list musical artist also won’t have a big effect in terms of society, but it will have a big effect on that particular musical artist.

This whole thing proves that you’re movement is weak, you know you’re weak, and you engage in bullying solely to try to convince yourselves that you are strong. You’re too weak to try to take on someone big like Robert Kraft (the real source of this particular controversy), so you don’t even try.

You’re Karens shouting at the cashier instead of just taking your business elsewhere. The point is to make a scene and bully people, not to do anything real (that’s too much effort!) that will actually make any kind of a difference.

            Boycott.

Which business off of which Robert Kraft actually makes money would you recommend the average person boycott?

            But you

            You know nothing about me

don’t even want to change which brand of Mac & Cheese you buy

Robert Kraft has nothing to do with Kraft Mac & Cheese, which I don’t buy either.

Your entire comment hinges off assumptions that you are making about a complete stranger, and off of the assumption that Robert Kraft has anything to do with Kraft Heinz.

You are judging strangers based on your own misinformed perspective. But do go on, by all means.

I don’t know any of his songs, so I’m surprised he’s so popular. But it’s terrific that he’s using that popularity for a good cause
