Just tax the wealthy. They obviously have too much money. When you have that much money you don’t just have it in a bank account having inflation eating away at it.

You have to invest it but the investment market is oversaturated. There are no longer any good investments so you have to pump up the bad investments and dump it before everyone else does.

A stock market is supposed to be a way to streamline making connections between people that have money to invest and companies that need investment. But with everything oversaturated, it’s just a casino. Go long before everyone else does, short before everyone else does.

The wealthy also want to hedge and put a bunch of money somewhere safe. So they invest in real estate. So now a home is an investment, and that’s too oversaturated and it’s too expensive for regular people to own a home.

Tax the wealthy, they have too much money and it’s causing serious problems for everyone. People going on and on about the problems being impossible to solve and we need a revolution or whatever are just distracting everyone from the obvious problem that has an obvious solution. The wealthy have too much money, the government can tax the wealthy if we push them to do that.

The only way “ai” ends humanity is with the climate crisis. It’s the same problem. These dumbass skynet fears have no place in legitimate journalism.

The power isn’t the problem. Nature has proven that even the smallest of things in coordination and working together- can move mountains. But, this is ONLY if the necessity for change is a greater force than the effort required to create it.

But that’s the problem, isn’t it? The effort. It’s easy to shout at everyone online about how bad YouTube is to their content creators, or how bad Facebook is to pretty much everyone and everything that has ever, or will ever exist- but the moment the change to these things requires effort, you can forget it.

And don’t even think about the sacrifice required to make these changes. People say that tEh mArKeTpLaCe is why they refuse to bail on a corporation that literally supports the sharing of videos torturing AI babies, and outing women having abortions to the feds.

“Yeah, that sucks and all, but I need to be able to sell my stupid shit to other people that can’t be fucked to stand up against this shit”.

    We’re done.

AI or the climate crisis? They’re basically related at this point. But the real answer is “both”. The time to stand up to both was a while ago. Really at least 50+yrs ago for climate change.

The first Earth Day was 56 years ago. “The Limits to Growth” was published in 1972 (and didn’t even include climate change, so yay). We started to stand up, but I think got pushed back down quickly.

the people standing up in 1972 were still gonna live to old age. nobody still standing can be quite so sure.

that said, we do seem really down for letting them kill us.

Conservatives are the foot soldiers of the wealth class. Always have been. As ling as conservativea are alive, the normal people will never be permitted to address climate change, AI issues, force the wealthy to pay taxes or fair wages or create any other challenge to the wealth class. To defeat the boss, we must first erase its foot soldiers.

That’s okay. We’ll take a stand to vote in a bunch of Democrats, have a majority in the House and Senate, get blocked on presidential veto powers and filibusters, and the public will just blame Democrats for not changing things. Because they are too fucking stupid to understand basic federal government processes that you learn in elementary school.

And then two years later, they’ll betray their own country again and vote GOP.

Even when voting doesn’t take much effort, the apathetic dipshit public can’t even be bothered to stay motivated for more than one election cycle. Meanwhile, a bunch of old ass boomer conservatives are clocking in at the polls every fucking year.

It’s remarkable how every existential crisis somehow ends with the same handful of billionaires asking for less regulation and more public money. Apparently humanity’s future is a private business venture, but the losses will be socialized. Again.

Well, yes but also, it might be. Not like, a Terminator scenario, but more in the, as long as all the wealth being spent on it being a lost opportunity cost to do something about all the other important things that aren’t being funded. I’m not worried about the slop factories out competing us qualitatively, but rather choking out every other part of society because a bunch of idiots currently control all the purse strings.

Yeah … it’s both … and we won’t do anything until we see mass migration, wars caused by mass migration and thousands of millions of dead or dying. And even then, we’ll probably argue about it all and say that it isn’t that bad and just keeping doing what we’re doing until everything is way too far gone and millions more start dying. We won’t act seriously until we’re at the brink of complete extinction.

99% of us are good people with good common sense, it’s just that we are so easily and quickly manipulated and we don’t care most of the time.

And it’s the 1% of psychopaths with way too much power and control that are driving us all to the brink

we see mass migration, wars caused by mass migration and

      We see this already.

thousands of millions of dead or dying.

When billions of people are dying, it will probably be too late.

I get you, but we all want to do something we just don’t know what to do, or where to expend our efforts.

The evil overlords have collusion, they’re backed by think tanks and hundreds of years of planning. It’s not that easy to take down. There’s no step outside your door, kinda action to do, what do we do? If we knew which actions to take, we would all do them with great gusto.

The action you’re waiting to see is when all other semblance of life are taken away from us and we have nothing to lose, and our lives are being taken or taken over by the evil overlords directly, then you’ll see mostly people in fight or flight. And when you’re in fight or flight your thinking systems are shut off, so it might look impressive, but it won’t have forethought.

Instead of lamenting bitterly why aren’t people doing anything, or throwing pesimism at no current actions, What we should be doing is planning their take down. Which pegs and cogs in the machine do we aim for. Which groups do we support, who is planning action that we support, gather and ask, non rhetorically, what can we do and troubleshoot what we can do, both big and small. How can we gather numbers.

If you’re sad you think we will act too late, start a movement now. Join something and encourage others to, as well. Use your emotions and funnel them into action.

What is it we should be doing, and let’s start doing it.

Considering how much command and control they seem to giving to “SI” nuclear weapons might not be unrelated. Also you know, water wars.
