Spoilers for like a 20 year old show I guess, but ::: spoiler <House spoilers> House literally fakes his own death to run away into the sunset on his motorcycle with Wilson after Wilson is diagnosed with cancer. Literal ride or die couple. Admittedly partly to escape legal consequences, but he could have done that any way he wanted. :::

I honestly can’t tell most of the time anymore, but if it is that doesn’t change that land mines have a long term negative impact on the wildlife as well as the people in the areas they’re placed (even if they’re not carrying it around like this), and that animals don’t know where war zones begin and end.
Not that like, children and adults getting blown up by land mines isn’t sad enough on its own already, but now I’m thinking about the non-zero amount of wildlife that was just minding its own fucking business before getting blown up by a landmine that was put there by some asshole (to defend against another asshole) :(
I choose to believe this was a dud and the bear is fine!
She has on safety glasses, that means nothing bad can happen.

72·5 days agoThe Wired article linked by the OP article mentions visiting multiple banks in a week as suspicious behavior that gets flagged… if we had a car (assuming it needs a license plate to attach to you and look up info), that would have pinged my spouse last week. Stupid fucks live in such ivory towers that they’ve never had a bank run out of quarters for the washing machine.

107·5 days agoInstead of typing a prompt and getting a response, Dazzle has users snap a photo as the starting point and lets the agent point to what it thinks the next course of action should be. “Snap a picture of a purchase you’ve been thinking about, a flat tire, or fridge ingredients, and Dazzle buys on approval, schedules repairs, or suggests recipes,” the company says.
Finally, what we really needed: ChatGPT for people too lazy to type a prompt

3·22 days agoA neat result from pedagogical studies is that being given the worked solutions to new problems to study from is much more effective for learning the material than simply practicing.
Finally, something to justify my still-existent hatred of my middle school geometry teacher for literally telling us ‘the theorems are on the board’ any time we asked her for help trying to solve a problem or for her to show us an example problem. Why the fuck were you even teaching.

1·26 days agoEveryone thinks they’ve verified what they were told, I’ve even seen people paste text from whatever website saying it supports their point when really it just has similar keywords. Your brain is very use it or lose it, and when you export research and thinking to AI your ability to do either drops.

I think Charlotte’s Web had something like this.
